What Fun - Part 2

I told you I was obsessed with this Madison Window die!! I wanted to try and make a card featuring the window die with an outside scene. This is what I came up with ... 

My daughter is going to send it to one of her friends who has been home recuperating from an emergency appendectomy. I hope it will help to raise her spirits.


Sorry for the short entry today ... I'm off to enjoy what is left of the holiday weekend outdoors with my family.

What FUN!!

I have been seeing so many cards lately using the Madison Window die ... and I loved them ALL! So much so, that I became obsessed and just had to get one of those for myself. Of course, now that I had it in my hands, I couldn't come up with any design or ideas ... typical! Does this ever happen to you?


I forced myself to sit and play with the die this morning, and finally came up with the following card. I have to say that I absolutely LOVE how it came out. Rather simple, and without a sentiment on the outside of the card, but that's okay. I think the simplicity is part of why I like it so much.

In addition to the window die, I also picked up the window box die. Since this card was featuring the window from the inside of the house, I used two window boxes as a chair rail instead ... I think it worked out just fine. I love when you can find dual purposes for things like this. I will have to play with a design to feature the window from the outside of the house so I can use the window box the way it was intended to be used. :)  


Can't wait to make up some more designs!

Busy Busy Busy!

I always have such mixed emotions about this time of year. I'm excited by the arrival of spring and the vibrant colors that come along with that. I look forward to the arrival of summer and the more relaxed schedules that come along with that. But, somehow, between the spring and summer, things get slightly hectic!! That's where things are for me right now ... in a constant state of hectic!! No matter how hard I try, I just cannot seem to get ahead of the curve and be ready and prepared for the various activities that occur at this time of year.

I have to say that this year is slightly better than any in the recent past. My daughters are usually involved in soccer at this time of year which brings it's very own high amount of activity to our schedule, but this year is different. For some reason, there didn't appear to be enough interest to field a team so we are without any weekend soccer games or weekday practice schedules. Truth be told, I am okay with this change!! Don't get me wrong, I have always loved going to their games and sitting on a nice warm afternoon watching them play ... BUT the weather is NEVER predictable here in VT so it was kind of rare to be able to enjoy those warm afternoons. More often than not, we were typically stuck sitting in the cold, driving rain while the game played on. I can even recall sitting in a snow shower or two during the spring soccer season. Brrrr.

Despite the lack of soccer activities, I still feel as though things are happening rapidly and without much time to prepare. Just yesterday I realized that it was the last piano lesson for the year for my older daughter. I wasn't prepared with any end-of-year teacher gift or anything! What to do? Play with my papers and glue, of course! :)

Here is what I came up with ... what do you think?

The inside of the card was folded in such a way that I could insert a gift card to a local restaurant and it would be held in place. 

I was pretty happy with the way it turned out. The piano teacher seemed to like it too, so that was an added bonus!!

I hope you find time during this busy time of year to play with your crafty things too! It's amazing how much your attitude can change and improve when you take the time to do something you enjoy.

Hello Again!
I hope you all had a nice weekend! We had beautiful weather which was a nice change from all of the rain we have had lately!! I got to spend some meaningful time outside on the tractor trying to cut through the long, long grass and tons of dandelions. While I do love sunny days, there are certain benefits to the cold and rainy weather ... like having a chance to play inside with all of my stamps, paper and ink without any guilt!


I have a few cards to post for you today that I completed last week during those rainy days. I made this specific set of cards for my mother for Mother's Day based loosely on some cards I saw on Pinterest. I hope you like them! 

The stamp set is one of the soon-to-be retiring stamp sets by Stampin' Up! called Upsy Daisy. I just love how crisp the image looks! I used versa mark ink and white embossing powder for the images and sentiments (Curly Cute by Stampin' Up!). I mounted the images onto pieces of white card stock which then got punched with various border punches for variety. I separated some of the images on some of the cards and left others in tact. I used assorted ribbons for added color and then mounted the images onto colored Bazzill card stock with Stampin' Dimensionals adhesive. All in all, a simple set of cards!

I really like how they came out and have every intention of making up some more to keep in my own stash here at home.

Hello!


I spent last weekend with two very dear friends and we spent our time creating cards and themed scrapbooks. We also got to celebrate a birthday for one of my friends as well. Aside from the time passing way too quickly (it always does), the time spent together was fabulous and I left my friends feeling very inspired and re-energized.


Here are some pictures of some of the cards we made together. I will be sending them to my Mother-in-law for Mother's Day, along with some others, so that she will have a nice supply of cards on hand for any occasion. 

All of these cards feature Stampin' Up! stamps, inks and papers. I don't know if you can see it in these pictures, but two of the cards also feature Diamond Dust by Stampin' Up! which offers a little bit of sparkle and shine. So pretty, right? I hope my Mother-in-law likes them as much as I enjoyed making them!!

I was so energized by last weekend with my friends, that I made a few more cards this week on my own. Here are a couple of cards I made for my daughter's piano teacher. Her sister had a baby recently and I wanted to celebrate the new baby with cards for both the new Mama and the piano teacher.
